Simply Red were a Soul group formed in Manchester in the 1980’s.
Mick Hucknall is without doubt a white boy with soul. It is interesting that 25 – 30 years after the soul boom, Manchester is a place generating new soul stars (ie M People).
I’ve wondered if Mick’s parents went to the Old Wheel? I did hear a rumour that Roger Eagle (Old Wheel DJ) was involved with the early formation of Simply Red and Mick Huckell’s first manager.
