C. L. Blast, real name Clarence Lewis Jr, came from Alabama. He recorded for the Red Robin label in New York in 1954. He collaborated on the writing of Lee Dorsey’s 1961 hit, Ya Ya.
This was a Blue Note find as we imported it from auction sales lists: anything on Stax we would try to get as Stax was the foundation theme of that Manchester Soul Club.
