Chris Barber
The Chris Barber Band is still in action and Chris played a great set with John Mayall and Eric Clapton in Liverpool to celebrate John Mayall’s 70th birthday. Years ago the band had a superb jazz and blues singer  – Ottilie Patterson  who did excellent covers of blues standards, occasionally in duet with blues and gospel singers such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
Chris Barber had a hit with an instrumental that was played at R ‘n B and Soul clubs in the early 60’s – not sure what it was called. I first saw them live at the Lancaster Club AVRO’s Christmas dance 1962/3.
